Acupressure for dry eyes around the orbit

Six periocular points often used when the eyes feel dry or strained: Yu Yao, Tai Yang, Cheng Qi, Si Zhu Kong, Cuan Zhu, and Si Bai. Gentle home press alongside prescribed care.

In brief

Press and rub the labeled periocular points in a circular motion for about five minutes once daily. A dull ache at the point is common; sharp pain is a stop. This is educational self-care, not needle acupuncture and not a treatment for sudden vision change.

Routine

The steps

  1. Yu Yao (鱼腰, EX-HN4)

Midpoint of the eyebrow, directly above the pupil when you look ahead. Circle gently. Often used for brow and eye fatigue.

  2. Tai Yang (太阳, EX-HN5)

In the temple hollow beside the outer corner of the eye. Circle gently. A common point for temple tightness with eye strain.

  3. Cheng Qi (承泣, ST1)

Directly below the pupil, on the infraorbital ridge. Very light pressure only. Do not press into the eyeball.

  4. Si Zhu Kong (丝竹空, TE23)

In the depression at the lateral tip of the eyebrow. Circle gently for outer-canthus strain.

  5. Cuan Zhu (攒竹, BL2)

In the hollow at the medial end of the eyebrow, near the bridge of the nose. Circle gently for inner-canthus and brow fatigue.

  6. Si Bai (四白, ST2)

On the cheek, in the infraorbital foramen, about one finger-width below Cheng Qi. Circle gently. Keep pressure soft on the face.

FAQs

Quick questions

How long should I press each day?

About five minutes once daily across the set is the educational habit from the dry eyes Insight. Keep circles kind. You do not need every point every day if one area feels tender.

Should the points feel sore?

A dull ache is common. Sharp pain, numbness, or vision change means stop and book rather than pressing harder.
