BIXEPS in Singapore for muscle activation

Seated, non-invasive magnetic muscle activation in about 10 minutes at Paragon. Optional TCM when patterns need more than the device alone.

  • Paragon clinic only
  • ~10-minute sessions
  • NUS & ETH technology
  • Optional TCM consult
  • From $500 package

In brief

BIXEPS at PULSE is a seated, non-invasive muscle-activation session using low-energy magnetic fields on the upper thigh for about 10 minutes at our Paragon clinic. The technology was co-developed at the National University of Singapore and ETH Zurich. You book supervised sessions here; we do not sell home machines. Optional TCM consultation can sit beside the device course when useful.

What it is

Magnetic activation that complements movement

BIXEPS uses patented Muscle Magnetic Mitohormesis (MitoCharge): a gentle electromagnetic field intended to support mitochondrial activity in muscle and myokine signalling that may circulate more widely than the treated leg.

QuantumTX, a spinoff from NUS research, commercialised the device for general wellbeing and active ageing support. At PULSE it sits inside a TCM clinic with screening before first use and optional physician assessment. Device literature frames it as support for wellbeing and an active lifestyle, not a substitute for medical treatment of disease. Progress usually needs a multi-week course, not a one-off visit. For packaged booking, audience pathways, and full pricing, see our Muscle Recovery with BIXEPS programme.

How it works

How BIXEPS works

Classical TCM framing and what device literature describes physiologically, side by side.

A TCM perspective

Qi, Blood, and weak muscle

When qi and Blood are deficient or sluggish, legs can feel heavy and recovery between movement slows. BIXEPS does not replace pulse, tongue, or acupuncture; it can support activation and comfort while your physician names the wider pattern when you add a consult.

A clinical perspective

Field, mitochondria, myokines

Low-energy electromagnetic pulses aim to activate muscle mitochondria in a way that echoes some cellular responses of exercise. Activated muscle may release myokines into circulation, which device literature links to wider metabolic and recovery signalling. Sessions are seated and non-invasive.

What device literature helps explain

A plain summary from published materials and brochures, not a promise of outcome for every person.

  • Magnetic mitohormesis Research on magnetic mitohormesis explores how controlled magnetic fields may support mitochondrial response in muscle. BIXEPS at PULSE is framed as complementary care after screening. [1] [2]
  • Muscle energetics and recovery context Pilot work has explored electromagnetic approaches for muscle energetics and post-injury recovery settings. Suitability is confirmed at screening, not assumed from literature alone. [3]
  • Singapore media context Local coverage has discussed magnetic pulse approaches for muscle support in older adults. PULSE offers BIXEPS inside a screened TCM clinic setting. [4]
  • Regulated TCM practice Optional TCM consultation is delivered by physicians registered with the Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board under MOH. [5]

The device

Ten minutes on the thigh, system-wide signalling

During use, BIXEPS generates electromagnetic fields intended to activate muscle mitochondria. Activated muscle may release myokines into circulation, which is one reason users sometimes notice effects beyond the treated leg.

Fields are low-energy and non-ionising relative to clinical MRI equipment. Clothing and shoes do not block the field. Screening comes first. About 10 minutes is the standard session window. Available at Paragon only.

Common concerns

Where BIXEPS may support recovery

BIXEPS is often booked for mobility, training turnaround, or joint comfort goals after screening. Physicians and the device team treat people, not only labels. The groups below are common entry points and not exhaustive.

Acute fractures, red-flag neurological signs, or injuries needing urgent orthopaedic care should be assessed medically first. Our Pain & Injury programme remains the primary pathway for physician-led injury plans.

Your visit

What to expect

Screening first. Session count and optional TCM are confirmed after your history is clear.

  1. Screen & register

Short registration and safety screen before first use. Share implants, recent surgery, and current injuries.

  2. Activate (about 10 minutes)

Sit with one upper thigh in the device (both legs when screening allows). Most people feel little, warmth, tingling, or nothing at all.

  3. Optional TCM consult

When booked, a physician assesses pulse, tongue, and goals (about 30 to 45 minutes). Acupuncture, cupping, or herbs may be recommended as add-ons.

  4. Course planning

Meaningful change is usually discussed over a multi-week weekly course, not from one visit. Package details sit on the programme page.

Comfort & safety

Screened care with clear boundaries

BIXEPS uses low-frequency, low-energy electromagnetic fields. It is not appropriate for everyone. Tell us about implanted devices before booking.

  • Do not use BIXEPS with active electronic implants such as pacemakers or defibrillators.
  • Many MRI-compatible passive implants are often acceptable; ask your doctor if unsure.
  • Stop and tell staff if you feel pain or unexpected discomfort during a session.
  • BIXEPS complements exercise and physiotherapy; it does not replace them.
  • Acute red-flag injury symptoms need urgent Western medical assessment first.

Why patients choose PULSE

  • Device inside a TCM clinic

Screening and optional physician assessment stay close to the session.

  • Clear Paragon booking

You know where to book. BIXEPS is currently only at our Paragon clinic.

  • Honest course expectations

We do not sell one-off sessions as a miracle. Packages match multi-week device use.

  • Optional East-meets-West framing

TCM can name patterns while BIXEPS supports activation and recovery comfort.

More in the FAQs

From the clinic

  • BIXEPS is useful when someone needs a low-effort activation option, especially seniors restarting movement or athletes stacking recovery tools. I still want a clear picture of injury history and implants before the first session.

  • When patients book TCM beside BIXEPS, I look at qi and Blood flow, joint comfort, and training load together. The device does not replace pulse, tongue, and a proper consult when patterns are complex.

FAQs

BIXEPS questions, answered

What it is, where to book in Singapore, cost, safety, and how it sits beside SIS and our programme pathway.

What is BIXEPS in Singapore?

BIXEPS is a seated muscle-activation device using Muscle Magnetic Mitohormesis: low-energy magnetic fields on the upper thigh for about 10 minutes. At PULSE you book supervised sessions at our Paragon TCM clinic, with optional physician-led TCM when useful.

Where can I get BIXEPS in Singapore?

At PULSE, BIXEPS is only at Paragon (290 Orchard Road #05-49, near Orchard and Somerset MRT). Dedicated MitoCharge muscle-health centres also operate at other Singapore locations. We do not sell home devices.

How much does BIXEPS cost at PULSE TCM?

The device package is $500 for 10 sessions plus 1 complimentary session (excluding GST). TCM consultation is $40–80 when booked separately. Single sessions are not offered. See the Muscle Recovery programme page for full pricing detail.

Can I buy a BIXEPS machine?

No. PULSE offers supervised clinic sessions at Paragon, not retail devices for home use. Ask about the packaged course when you book.

Is BIXEPS safe?

Device literature describes low-frequency, low-energy fields within international safety guidance for this class of equipment. We screen before first use. Do not use BIXEPS with active pacemakers or defibrillators. Tell us about all implants.

Will I feel anything during BIXEPS?

Some people notice slight warmth, tingling, cooling, or numbness; many feel nothing during the 10 minutes. Tell staff if anything feels painful or unexpected.

Does clothing interfere with BIXEPS?

No. The fields are designed to reach muscle through clothing and shoes. We still confirm comfort and screening details on the day.

One leg or both legs per visit?

One upper thigh per session is standard because it maximises myokine signalling per visit. When screening allows, both legs in one visit may be offered. Frailer users often start with single-leg sessions.

How often should I come?

A weekly course of about 10 to 12 sessions is commonly discussed before judging meaningful change. Frequency is confirmed after screening and your goals.

Can BIXEPS replace exercise?

No. Exercise trains the heart, circulation, mood, and many systems BIXEPS does not replace. We use the device to support people who need help starting or recovering between active sessions.

Will BIXEPS make my muscles bulkier?

The aim is muscle energetics and endurance-style support, not bodybuilding hypertrophy. Device literature discusses functional gains that may not show as bulky muscle.

Can I use BIXEPS with physiotherapy or TCM?

Yes, when screening shows it fits. BIXEPS complements physiotherapy, training, and physician-led TCM. It does not replace urgent injury care.

How is BIXEPS different from SIS at PULSE?

BIXEPS is a seated thigh activation device for muscle recovery support at Paragon. SIS is a physician-indicated non-contact electromagnetic adjunct within TCM pain plans at selected clinics. Your screening and goals determine which fits.

How is this page different from the Muscle Recovery programme?

This treatment page explains the modality. The programme page covers audience pathways, testimonials, package booking, and the full Paragon course experience.
