Lotus root Chinese yam pork soup

Lotus root (莲藕) and Chinese yam (山药) with lean pork and ginger. A mild kitchen pot when digestion feels heavy and energy runs low before menses.

In brief

Simmer 400 g peeled lotus root, 200 g Chinese yam, 250 g lean pork, and one or two slices of ginger in 6 to 8 cups of water until tender. Season with salt and pepper. The pot supports Spleen digestion when bloating and fatigue sit before the period. It is kitchen food therapy, not a PMS medicine.

FAQs

Quick questions

Can I use pork ribs instead of lean pork?

Yes. Lean pork keeps the pot lighter. Ribs make a richer broth. Keep the same lotus root and Chinese yam amounts.

Is this the same as lotus leaf Chinese barley soup?

No. That pot uses dried lotus leaf with Chinese barley for damp-heat patterns. This pot uses lotus root rhizome with Chinese yam and pork for milder Spleen support.
